Position:  Framing & Finishing Carpenter

Salary: $36.00-$40.00 per hour. The gross salary paid is subject to all applicable Federal and Provincial income taxes and other statutory deductions. 

Vacation:  4% of the gross salary 

Hours of Work: 30-40 Hours a week; overtime rate (X1.5) applicable after 44 hours of work per week 

Essential Functions / Major Responsibilities 

• Interpret drawings, specifications and work orders to determine framing, finishing and installation requirements. 
• Measure, cut, shape and assemble wood, engineered wood and other construction materials according to project specifications. 
• Construct and install structural frameworks, including walls, floors, ceilings, roof components and partitions. 
• Install interior and exterior finishing components, such as doors, windows, trim, baseboards, casings, mouldings, cabinets, stairs and other finish carpentry items. 
• Verify measurements and ensure framing and finishing work is level, plumb, square, properly aligned and completed to required quality standards. 
• Identify deficiencies or defects in framing or finishing work and complete necessary adjustments, repairs or replacements. 
• Use hand tools, power tools and equipment, including saws, nail guns, drills, levels and measuring tools, safely and effectively. 
• Maintain a clean, organized and safe work area throughout the construction process. 
• Coordinate with supervisors, team members, subcontractors and other trades to ensure work is completed in the proper sequence. 
• Follow project schedules, workplace safety procedures and quality standards. 

Employment Requirements  

• 7-12 months hands on experience in framing and finish carpentry work within new-home construction or renovation projects, is required. 
• Completion of secondary school is required. 
• Physically demanding work requires to stand/move for the entire shift. Must be able to climb the ladder. Hand eye coordination is required. 
• Weight handling up to 100 lbs 
• Basic communication skills in English language with an ability to take instructions from the supervisor and to communicate with the customer.
