Job Description

FOUR SEASONS DC Repairs Ltd. is seeking a Senior Bookkeeper to manage and support the accounting and financial administration of its HVAC service, repair, and installation projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate accounting records, monitoring project costs, managing accounts payable and receivable, performing reconciliations, processing payroll, and assisting with financial reporting and project-related accounting activities.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain complete financial records and balance various accounts using computerized bookkeeping and accounting systems.
  • Maintain project and job-costing records for HVAC service, repair and installation work, including equipment, materials, subcontractor and labour costs.
  • Process and maintain accounts payable and accounts receivable, including supplier invoices, customer invoices, payments and collections.
  • Prepare and post journal entries, reconcile bank, credit card, supplier and customer accounts, and prepare trial balances.
  • Maintain financial records for individual projects and work orders and prepare project cost, revenue and gross-margin reports for management.
  • Maintain records of equipment and parts purchases and reconcile inventory transactions with project and work-order records.
  • Calculate and prepare payroll for employees and maintain payroll-related records, including source deductions and other applicable remittances.
  • Prepare periodic financial and accounting reports and assist with month-end and year-end accounting procedures.
  • Prepare and maintain records required for HST, WSIB and other applicable government remittances and filings.
  • Maintain organized accounting records and supporting documentation for projects, suppliers, subcontractors and customers.

Employment Requirements

  • Completion of a college diploma in accounting, bookkeeping, finance, business administration or a related field is required.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in accounting, bookkeeping, project accounting or a related financial position is required.
  • Demonstrated experience with full-cycle accounting, including accounts payable and receivable, general ledger entries, account reconciliations and financial reporting.
  • Experience with project accounting, job costing, cost allocation and preparation of project financial reports is required.
  • Experience working in an HVAC, construction, mechanical contracting or similar project-based environment is an asset.
  • Proficiency with computerized accounting software, such as QuickBooks, and Microsoft Office applications is required.
  • Strong understanding of accounting procedures, financial record keeping and applicable payroll and government remittance requirements.
  • Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to independently manage accounting records and multiple project accounts.

Language Requirements: English at an intermediate level
