Job Description 

Spectrum Building Services is seeking a Building Maintenance & Restoration Coordinator to supervise and coordinate building maintenance, repair, installation and restoration activities at residential and commercial properties. 

The successful candidate will coordinate field workers and service crews, establish work schedules and methods, arrange materials and equipment, monitor work progress, resolve job site issues and ensure assigned maintenance and restoration work is completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with project requirements and company standards. 

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Supervise, coordinate and schedule the daily activities of building maintenance, restoration, installation and repair workers engaged in drywall and baseboard repairs, painting, floor covering installation and replacement, and other building maintenance and restoration work.  
  • Review work orders and establish work methods and schedules based on project requirements, personnel, materials, equipment and completion timelines. 
  • Assign work to field personnel and coordinate workers and resources across multiple job sites to meet project and service schedules. 
  • Coordinate field activities with property managers, building staff, residents and suppliers to arrange site access and ensure timely completion of assigned work. 
  • Monitor ongoing maintenance and restoration work, provide direction to field personnel and ensure work is completed according to project requirements and company standards. 
  • Identify and resolve work-related problems and recommend measures to improve work methods, productivity, service quality and project completion. 
  • Determine material, equipment and supply requirements and coordinate the procurement and delivery of required materials and supplies to job sites. 
  • Coordinate emergency and priority restoration work arising from floods, fires, water damage and other property-related incidents, including required workers, equipment and follow-up repairs. 
  • Train and provide guidance to workers on job requirements, work procedures, equipment use, company standards and applicable workplace health and safety requirements. 
  • Prepare and maintain work orders, progress reports, service records and project documentation, and report project status, deficiencies and follow-up requirements to management. 

Employment Requirements 

  • Completion of secondary school is required.  
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in building maintenance, restoration, construction, installation, repair, field-service coordination or a related work environment is required.  
  • Previous experience coordinating or supervising field workers, technicians, installers, repairers, tradespersons or service crews is required.  
  • Experience in building maintenance, property restoration, repairs, renovations or installation projects is an asset.  
  • Post-secondary education in project management, construction, building maintenance, business operations, supply chain management or a related field is an asset.  
  • Ability to review and interpret work orders, scopes of work, job specifications and related project documentation.  
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple projects, job sites and priorities.  
  • Ability to communicate effectively with field personnel, property managers, building staff, suppliers, subcontractors and clients.  
  • Working knowledge of occupational health and safety practices applicable to building maintenance, repair and restoration work.  
  • English language proficiency sufficient to communicate effectively in the workplace and prepare work-related reports and documentation.  
  • Valid Ontario driver’s licence and ability to travel to various job sites throughout the Greater Toronto Area.
