Job Overview

BEM Electric Motors is seeking two skilled Electric Motor Mechanics to join our service and repair team in Brampton, Ontario. This position is ideal for candidates with hands-on experience in diagnosing, dismantling, repairing, rebuilding, and testing industrial electric motors and related equipment. The successful candidates will play an important role in maintaining high repair standards, resolving mechanical and electrical faults, supporting junior staff when required, and ensuring quality workmanship and timely service for our customers.

Salary: $36.00 per hour. The gross salary paid has been subject to all applicable Federal and Provincial income taxes and other statutory deductions.
Vacation: 4% of gross salary amount
Hours of Work: 30-40 Hours a week; Overtime rate (X1.5) after 44 hours of work per week

Essential Functions / Major Responsibilities

  • Inspect, diagnose, and test malfunctioning electric motors, servo motors, stepper motors, DC motors, AC motors, and related electromechanical equipment.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting of complex electrical and mechanical faults, including overheating, vibration, insulation failure, noise, alignment issues, and intermittent performance problems.
  • Conduct detailed inspections of shafts, bearings, housings, windings, armatures, and assemblies to determine repair requirements and root causes of failure.
  • Disassemble, repair, rebuild, and reassemble electric motors and components including rotors, stators, commutators, bearings, couplings, seals, and braking systems.
  • Perform motor rewinding, coil replacement, insulation, varnishing, and curing processes as required.
  • Align shafts, replace bearings, balance rotating components, and ensure proper mechanical fit and operation after repairs.
  • Carry out final operational testing and quality checks to verify repaired equipment meets performance specifications and safety standards.
  • Provide technical guidance and hands-on assistance to junior technicians on difficult repairs, troubleshooting methods, diagnostic procedures, and safe work practices.
  • Review and support work completed by junior technicians to help maintain repair quality, accuracy, and timely completion of service jobs.
  • Prepare accurate service reports, repair records, and inspection documentation in accordance with company procedures.

Employment Requirements

  • Minimum 1-2 years of hands-on experience in electric motor repair, rebuilding, advanced diagnostics, troubleshooting, and testing is required.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve complex electrical and mechanical faults in AC motors, DC motors, servo motors, and related equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical drawings.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of bearings, shafts, windings, couplings, alignment, and industrial drive systems.
  • Effective communication skills in English (written and verbal) to accurately complete technical reports and documentation.
  • Completion of secondary school is required.
