Salary: $45.00- $50.00 per hour; The gross salary paid is subject to applicable Federal & Provincial income taxes & other statutory deductions such as EI and CPP.
Vacation: 4% of the gross salary
Hours of Work: 30-40 hours a week. Overtime rate (X1.5) applicable after 44 hours of work per week

About the Position

S&T Automation Controls Ltd. is seeking an experienced Robotics Engineering Technician to support the installation, commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, and optimization of industrial robots and automated manufacturing equipment used in production environments. The successful candidate will work closely with engineers, technicians, and production teams to assist in the operation, validation, and continuous improvement of robotic manufacturing systems, ensuring equipment performance, production efficiency, and compliance with engineering and quality standards.

Essential Functions / Major Responsibilities

  • Program, test, commission, and optimize industrial robots and robotic manufacturing cells used in automated production environments.
  • Assist in the installation, startup, and implementation of robotic equipment and automated manufacturing systems in accordance with engineering specifications and customer requirements.
  • Develop, modify, and optimize robot programs, motion sequences, tooling configurations, and manufacturing processes to improve equipment performance, reliability, and cycle times.
  • Configure, calibrate, and validate robotic vision systems and sensing devices used for automated manufacturing applications.
  • Create, test, and troubleshoot robot motion paths, tool center points (TCPs), user frames, payload settings, and robotic process parameters to ensure accurate and efficient operation.
  • Perform robot mastering, calibration, system setup, backup and recovery procedures, and equipment reconfiguration activities to support production and project requirements.
  • Conduct mechanical and operational testing of robotic systems and automated production equipment to verify functionality, performance, and compliance with project specifications.
  • Diagnose and resolve robotic equipment, automation system, tooling, and process-related issues to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency.
  • Participate in commissioning, validation, production launch, and continuous improvement activities for robotic manufacturing systems and automated production cells.
  • Prepare technical documentation, commissioning reports, equipment records, maintenance procedures, and process improvement recommendations, and collaborate with engineers, technicians, and production personnel during installation, commissioning, and production support activities.

Employment Requirements

  • A College level diploma in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Robotics Engineering Technology, Automation Engineering Technology, or a related field is required.
  • 2-3 years experience in programming, commissioning, troubleshooting, and supporting industrial robotic systems in a manufacturing or automation environment is required.
  • Experience with one or more industrial robotic platforms such as FANUC, ABB, KUKA, Comau, Yaskawa/Motoman, or similar systems used in manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of quality and continuous improvement methodologies such as FMEA, SPC, MSA, or related manufacturing quality systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, mechanical aptitude, communication, and problem-solving skills, along with moderate proficiency in the English language, are required.
