Steven Karr established Pride Pak Canada Ltd. (“Pride Pak”) in 1984 to service what he saw as a need to meet Canada’s growing trend for high quality, healthy, easy to use fresh food. We now proudly operate as Canada’s largest fresh fruit and vegetable processor from a state-of-the-art facility in Mississauga. In 2006 we opened our second facility Pride Pak Nfld. Ltd, which processes fresh fruit and vegetables for the Province of Newfoundland.

Please note that our Production areas are refrigerated to 5°C (40°F), and employees are required to dress accordingly. We offer employment opportunities on days, afternoons and night shifts with some positions requiring weekend work. The following opportunity is available:

Food Technologist

The ideal candidates will have years of experience in associated testing, regulatory, product claims and quality assurance in the food processing/manufacturing industry. You would be required to work with different team members in ensuring our on-site and line procedures are handled accordingly.

Job Duties:

  • Provide product development and safety and quality assurance details, accordingly;
  • Ensure that adequate quality systems are in place to ensure product safety and consistency;
  • Conduct physical sampling and analysis of potential new products for management approval to ensure they meet company and market standards prior to commercialization;
  • Attend first batch productions and conduct sample evaluation to ensure product quality and consistency;
  • Maintain brand product specifications, integrity, and standards to ensure we meet targets as set by management;
  • Participate in incident management concerning investigations on possible food contamination, and the likes, accordingly;
  • Maintain database of industry standards for market and product safety, regulatory trends, and industry issues;
  • May assist in completing other tasks related to quality assurance and control;

Requirements:

  • High-school diploma or equivalent – College Diploma in Food Technology, Quality Assurance will be an asset;
  • At least 1-less than 2 years of proven experience in quality assurance and control in food production and manufacturing;
  • Excellent knowledge in food production and manufacturing industry;
  • Good English language skills;
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment;

Compensation:

  • This is a full-time, permanent position with at least 30 hours of work per week
  • Hourly rate of $26.25, overtime rate applies after 44 hours of work per week
