Position: Assistant Cook
We are seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to join our team as an Assistant Cook. In this role, you will provide support in various kitchen and food service tasks, ensuring the smooth operation of our catering service.
Duties:
- Assist in preparing traditional Italian dishes, such as pasta, pizzas, and appetizers, ensuring authenticity and flavor consistency;
- Support the head chef in ensuring all kitchen operations run smoothly during high-volume periods;
- Monitor and report on food waste, helping to improve efficiency and reduce kitchen costs;
- Participate in the setup and breakdown of kitchen stations for daily service and special catering events;
- Assist in the organization and rotation of ingredients to ensure freshness and reduce spoilage;
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to maintain high standards of presentation and food quality;
- Assist in preparing and packaging takeout and delivery orders, ensuring they meet restaurant standards for presentation and accuracy.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen area, including washing dishes, utensils, and equipment;
- Follow proper food handling and safety procedures to ensure the health and safety of our customers;
Qualifications:
- On the job training will be provided – previous experience in the food industry or a similar role is preferred;
- Experience in cooking authentic Italian dishes is a significant asset;
- Secondary school diploma or its equivalent;
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Good English language skills and the ability to work well within a team.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
Compensation:
- Permanent, full-time position with lots of room to grow!
- Starting rate ranges from $16.55 to $22.50 per hour, with a minimum of 40 hours per week.
- Overtime rate will apply after 44 hours of work per week.
- Location of Work: 212 Howey St, Red Lake, ON P0V 2M0.
