The Honest Fresh Produce Inc. is seeking reliable and hardworking Greenhouse Labourers to join our agricultural production team in Kelowna, British Columbia. This position involves a variety of greenhouse and farm-related duties, including planting, cultivating, maintaining, harvesting, and preparing fresh produce.

Wage: $18.25 per hour

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• The successful candidates will assist with greenhouse and agricultural operations and may be required to:
• Plant, transplant, pot, and re-pot seeds, seedlings, bulbs, and rooted cuttings.
• Mix and prepare soils and growing materials.
• Water and maintain crops according to growing requirements.
• Consider factors such as water saturation, light, and temperature during crop production and germination.
• Guide growing shoots and tie and secure plants to support optimal development.
• Deleaf agricultural crops to promote healthy growth and accelerate ripening.
• Assist with grafting activities.
• Operate and monitor greenhouse climate controls.
• Perform weeding and general crop maintenance.
• Identify and report signs of insect infestation, disease, or crop damage.
• Spray or dust plants with insecticides and fungicides as required and in accordance with workplace procedures.
• Harvest vegetables, seedlings, and other agricultural products by hand.
• Sort and divide freshly harvested produce into marketable and non-marketable lots.
• Clean crops and prepare produce for further handling.
• Operate equipment such as garden tractors, irrigation pumps, irrigation equipment, and mechanical seeders.
• Clear and collect brush, debris, and other materials from fields and work areas.
• Perform greenhouse cleaning and maintain clean and organized work areas.
• Level and prepare soil and work surfaces as required.
• Perform other general farm and greenhouse duties assigned by the supervisor.

The work may involve a variety of crops, including:

Asparagus
Bell peppers
Cabbage
Carrots
Cauliflower
Cucumbers
Garlic
Ginger
Greenhouse tomatoes and other greenhouse vegetables
Herbs
Melons
Onions
Soybeans
Tomatoes

Qualifications:
Secondary school graduation certificate is preferred.
Previous experience in greenhouse, farm, or agricultural work is an asset but not required.
Training may be provided to suitable candidates.
Experience operating agricultural equipment, including garden tractors, irrigation equipment, or mechanical seeders, is an asset.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow instructions.
Reliable, hardworking, and able to perform repetitive and physically demanding work.

Work Conditions
Candidates must be prepared to work in a physically demanding and fast-paced environment, which may include:

Outdoor and greenhouse work
Wet or damp conditions
Hot and cold or refrigerated environments
Repetitive tasks
Standing for extended periods
Frequent bending, crouching, and kneeling
Lifting, carrying, and handling agricultural products and materials
