Salary: $38.00-$40.00 per hour; The gross salary paid is subject to applicable Federal and Provincial income taxes and other statutory deductions such as EI and CPP.
Vacation: 4% of the gross salary
Hours of Work: 30-40 Hours a week. Overtime rate (X1.5) applicable 44 hours of work per week

Major Responsibilities:

  • Inspect, diagnose, service, and repair mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems in commercial trucks and trailers.
  • Diagnose, repair, and replace components of engines, transmissions, clutches, drive shafts, differentials, axles, steering and suspension systems, and air and hydraulic braking systems.
  • Operate computerized diagnostic and testing equipment to identify and isolate mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults and determine required repairs.
  • Diagnose and repair fuel systems, engine management systems, emission control systems, starting and charging systems, wiring, and other electrical and electronic components.
  • Perform scheduled and preventive maintenance, including oil changes, lubrication, filter replacement, fluid servicing, and vehicle safety inspections.
  • Inspect, repair, adjust, and replace wheels, tires, and related components as required.
  • Inspect and test repaired systems and components to ensure proper operation and compliance with manufacturer specifications and applicable safety standards.
  • Read and interpret work orders, technical manuals, schematics, diagnostic codes, and manufacturer specifications to determine appropriate repair procedures.
  • Maintain accurate service records, inspection reports, and work orders in accordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure repairs and maintenance are completed in accordance with manufacturer specifications, company standards, and applicable provincial safety requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance, instruction, and mentorship to apprentices and junior technicians as required.
  • Order replacement parts and maintain inventory for regular maintenance and repair tasks.

Specific Job Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in the inspection, maintenance and repair of commercial trucks and heavy-duty vehicles is required.
  • A valid Truck and Coach Technician (310T) Certificate of Qualification issued by Skilled Trades Ontario, or equivalent provincial certification, is required.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining various types of trucks, including diesel engines, transmissions, brake systems, electrical systems, and hydraulics.
  • Comprehensive understanding of truck mechanics, including the ability to interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic codes.
  • Oral/written English language skills with an ability to engage in verbal interactions with drivers.
